Real Hip Hop

One of my all time favorite hip hop songs of all time. I give you DasEFX - Real Hip Hop. The duo composed of Skoob and Drayz with the help of producer Dj Premiere bring together a funky yet un-replicated sound that is sure to get any one's head nodding. Released in 1995, this song will live forever in my playlists.

This week I have chosen to feature a faily new artist to the scene, Big K.R.I.T. After listening to his latest mixtape titled "4evanaday", I was immediately impressed. His southern Mississippi sound combined with his deep reaching lyrics take you for a ride through the streets of the southern states. A must listen for any real Hip Hop lover.

One Love

If you have never heard this song, here is your chance. Released in 1994 on Columbia Records, Nas's "One Love" is personally one of my top 3 hip hop songs of all time. The song is about a series of letters written to his incarcerated friends, and shows the frustration Nas is going through being a less fortunate youth growing up in the streets of Queens. Produced by Q-Tip from "A Tribe Called Quest", the song was voted 48th greates hip hop song of all time.

Ghetto Concept

For our first order of business, I am posting one of my favorite hip hop tracks of all time: "Ez on the Motion" by Ghetto Concept. Filmed in 1995, this video marked the beginning of what was to be a huge social scene in Toronto. Hailing out of the Rexdale and Lawrence Heights neighbourhoods, Ghetto Concept consists of 3 memebers; Kwajo Cinqo (Kwajo Boateng) and Dolo (Lowell Frazier) and Infinite (Desmond Francis).
